The construction of new power plants has been launched

Simultaneous Launch of Solar Power Plant Construction in Five Iranian Provinces

Alireza Mahmoudpour, project manager of the government power plant initiative “Kalband–Sazeh Peyvand” at SATBA, announced the simultaneous start of construction for new 3 MW solar power plants across five provinces in Iran. According to him, following the completion of site development phases, the implementation phase has begun under the “Generation in Distribution” model in Golestan, East Azerbaijan, Fars, Bushehr, and Kish Island, with a total capacity of 297 MW.

Mahmoudpour praised the collaboration of local authorities in land allocation and permit issuance, stating that the main goal of the project is to bring the plants online by the summer 2025 peak demand period, in order to reduce the electricity supply gap. Connecting these plants to the distribution grid will also reduce network losses and minimize outages for residential users.

According to the plan, construction has commenced at 9 sites in East Azerbaijan (27 MW), 32 sites in Golestan (96 MW), 18 sites in Shiraz (54 MW), 10 sites in Kish (30 MW), and 30 sites in Bushehr (90 MW).

The preparatory phase included site identification, obtaining permits, grid connection studies, soil analysis, plant design, equipment procurement, and site preparation. The project is being carried out under the management of SATBA, in close cooperation with local electricity distribution companies. The Ministry of Energy considers this initiative a top priority, with a goal of integrating the 3 MW plants into the grid during peak consumption periods.
