Oil Minister: Scheduled to Visit Iraq Soon

Iran’s Minister of Petroleum, Mohsen Paknejad, has announced an upcoming visit to Iraq in the coming days, emphasizing the expansion of bilateral cooperation, particularly in the energy sector.

Referring to an official invitation from his Iraqi counterpart, he stated that various areas of cooperation, previously discussed at technical and executive levels, will be finalized during this visit.

Paknejad added that relations between Tehran and Baghdad are steadily growing in the fields of oil, gas, petrochemicals, and electricity. He expressed hope that several energy-related memorandums of understanding will be signed, paving the way for new joint projects.

The minister emphasized that Iran-Iraq cooperation in the oil sector has progressed significantly in recent years, with considerable potential for further development.

In March 2025, Paknejad met with Iraq’s Minister of Electricity, Ziyad Ali Fadel, in Tehran, where both sides reaffirmed their commitment to expanding energy cooperation. The Iranian minister has previously underlined the importance of enhancing international energy relations, especially with neighboring countries.
