Technological Development of Oil Fields in Collaboration with Universities

Mohsen Paknejad, the Minister of Oil, announced that the development of shared oil and gas fields is one of the Ministry’s serious programs. He stated that measures have been taken in the past for the development of these fields and that currently, planning is underway to preserve Iran’s share in these fields as soon as possible.

He added, “Certainly, when making decisions regarding the development of these fields, we need different resources and solutions for financial support.”

Regarding the implementation of the Seventh Development Plan and the development of shared oil and gas fields, the Minister said: “The steps we have taken to achieve the quantitative goals of the Seventh Development Plan have been considered and turned into a program. These programs will be implemented in annual phases, and their results and achievements will become visible over time.”

Paknejad also discussed the production of 10 essential items in the oil industry, saying: “One of the successful projects in the oil industry was the production of 10 essential items needed for the industry. After extensive studies, these 10 items were identified. The production of these items has made significant progress, with a substantial portion already completed.”

He continued, “The production of these 10 items is a key aspect of self-sufficiency in the oil industry, and we may increase the number of essential items based on the needs of the industry.”

Paknejad also addressed the memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with universities, saying: “These agreements were not only related to exploration but also included the study of oil and gas reservoirs. The contracts with universities aim to enhance technological development in the country’s oil and gas fields.”
